About the Image(s)
My image is of a glacier in Alaska's Tracy Arm Fjord. A few years ago my wife and I went on a small ship in the Inside Passage and one of the things I wanted was to see and photograph a glacier up close. In the image the people in the small boats were from our ship, later my wife and I were out there among the ice flows. The glacier experience met my expectations.
In Lightroom I cropped a bit from the bottom of the image to get rid of the ice flow which I thought was distracting. Other than that I just added some sharpening and luminance smoothing.

Very nice picture. Love the aspect ratio of the people and the glacier, gives the perspective of the grandeur of the glacier. the color of the glacier is beautiful. Hope to someday get a chance to visit Alaska and see the glacier's. Very nice shot and post processing. Just right.   Posted: 07/01/2020 01:03:37

I've taken several photographs of glaciers. They are challenging. Scale can be an issue, but you solved this by putting boats and people near the glacier. I like the heightened texture of the ice in your image. It adds energy and a sense of danger.
Such vastness; sadly, such ephemeral vastness.   Posted: 07/04/2020 17:26:44

To my eye you have done an excellent job with the depth of field the exposure and the color of the ice and water. For me this brings back memories of our own excursion into Glacier Bay and the immensity of the ice flows. I believe that you have done a good job of avoiding and distractions to the viewer's eye.
I feel that you can strengthen the fixation point for the viewer's eye and emphasize the enormity of the glacier by cropping in tighter and placing the boats on the lower "2/3rds" point. I took a shot at that in the 5x7 ratio VF I have attached. It will look better on your own higher res image. Tell me what you think.   Posted: 07/06/2020 09:10:47

Yes, also a good suggestion. I like it!   Posted: 07/06/2020 16:12:03
I like this image a lot. I do like your copped version a bit better. You made a good choice by leaving the boaters in the shot because you really good a good sense of scale of the size of the glacier.   Posted: 07/14/2020 13:22:18

Ditto as all mentioned above, a wonderful image. I like the ice flows at left for leading line, and scale with the people and boats, and most of all the blue in the ice. I didn't have the luxury of going into a smaller boat closer to the glacer when I went there. Makes me want to dig out my Alaska trip negatives now! Really cool image (no pun intended!).   Posted: 07/16/2020 10:00:19

Wow Lou, I love this image, you have portrayed the scale of it so beautifully. I like Gary's comments on zooming in closer. I like both though and if you retained the original, my personal preference would be to increase the contrast on the browns a tad so the blue pops even more.   Posted: 07/17/2020 12:42:22
