About the Image(s)

This was taken a few years ago while on a trip to Alaska, I think this is in Glacier Bay NP. This portion of the trip was on a small, 40 passenger, boat owned and operated by Alaskan Dream Cruises. Camera was a Canon 7D, Tamron 16-300 at 141 mm f 8 at 1/160 second.

In Lightroom I lightened the shadows, slightly cropped the image, did some Luminance smoothing and added some vibrance.

Lou, to me this is an outstanding image. I feel that the color tone is realistic to the viewer's eye. For me the lines of the breaking waves leads my eye into the image and holds it there. In my opinion the background clouds provide the right amount of detail to add to the image but not take away from the main theme. From my experience I wondered if the thin cloud layer in front of the hills should have a wee bit more blue - but nothing I tried could improve on your image. Well done!   Posted: 05/01/2020 15:35:53

Really like thee concept you conveyed here! To my eye, I would have darkened the shadows in the rolling swells to emphasize the lines of the wave crests. There's good DOF with the sharpes of the mountains contrasting with the cloud lines. Very well done!   Posted: 05/04/2020 18:50:12

Lou, this is certainly one of the best images you have shared with us. It is gorgeous. Competition worthy.   Posted: 05/08/2020 17:55:49

Really like the colors in this photo. Gary mentioned adding some blue to the lower clouds, i believe that would draw you deeper into the photo. Also i wonder if you were to lighten the furthermost clouds and add a a little color. it might draw me further into the photo without distracting from your focal point and beautiful color in the water. Nice shot!   Posted: 05/08/2020 21:48:34

Played around with clouds to see what it would look like with the clouds a little more blue and lighted the furthest clouds. i also added some saturation to the waves and leading lines. just playing around. hope that was okay...   Posted: 05/08/2020 22:52:08

I like this image Lou. The rolling waves with the sunset in the horizon make this a beautiful image. Great job with your composition.   Posted: 05/09/2020 09:46:21

Love the image Lou. No suggestions on edits but there is a second image that is within this one that could be outstanding as an impressionist abstract. I love abstracts, so my eye went immediately to the waves :)   Posted: 05/14/2020 17:37:55
