About the Image(s)

The image is of Linville Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Camera Canon 7D, Tamron 16-300mm lens at 133mm. 1/100 sec at f 20, ISO 100. Not sure why I shot at f 20, if I had to a chance to redo the image I would pick f 11.

I got quite a few different images of the fall, some showing more of the falls, etc. Some showing the bottom part without people in the image.

The shrubbery gives the eye a nice circular movement around the image. The people atop the falls give this a sense of perspective. I like the way you've brightened the image to put some WOW into it. The bottom of the falling water looks silky but perhaps the highlight could be brought back into it.   Posted: 03/05/2020 10:38:45

Very interesting image Lou. Nice use of vertical mode. The greenery and the stones make this an interesting location. To me I would have liked to see more of the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.   Posted: 03/06/2020 10:26:28

I agree Gary and Scott. I was in a small overlook across from the falls and could not get any farther to the right. That being the fact of the matter the photo still would be better if I could have.   Posted: 03/06/2020 15:23:21

Lou, I feel you have done a good job with the exposure, depth of field and color balance. I believe you intended, and achieved, the falls as the fixation point of the image.

It seems to me that as Scott said, the viewer may want to see all of the falls including the pool at the bottom. To my eye there is a bit too much green at the left of the image that does not add anything to the picture.   Posted: 03/06/2020 15:07:48

Lou, agree with all the comments already made. Perhaps you shot with f/20, trying to slow down the flow of water, in which case you could have gone longer.   Posted: 03/29/2020 23:23:21
