About the Image(s)

The Sun was rising and I intentionally shot underexposed so I could capture some of the richness of the colors. Tech info: ISO 100, f/11, 1/80 second, 70mm lens length, center-weighted metering. These are the first landscape shots with my new Nikon D750 and I used a tripod. I enhanced the dried soybean field so you could see streaks of light across it while reducing the darkness of the sky at the top in Lightroom. I used a circular gradient at center to enhance the light streaming through the trees. There was a woods of my left across the road from which I shot.

To my eye you have very well captured the depth of field, the sharpness of the image and the contrast across the scene. I feel that the final color scheme you have achieved is very pleasing to the viewer's eye. I think those colors also work well to draw and hold the viewer's eye at those trees.

It seems to me that the lighting direction in the trees is not consistent with the lighting in the clouds, but I cannot be totally sure. From my readings on imaging I believe that in the future you can achieve even greater detail in your images by exposing to the right and then darkening the image to reflect the early time of day.   Posted: 11/05/2019 07:50:37

I didn't change any light direction only enhanced it. I'll try your suggestion about metering the darker element; is that spot metering?   Posted: 11/05/2019 10:05:27

Great fall color shot. Beautiful sky. I might have reduced the foreground a bit. I would love to see this image in horizontal mode - why did you decide to go vertical or is this a crop?   Posted: 11/05/2019 12:15:57

I guess I went vertical for the sky and to balance it out the soybean field. I'll try a horizontal and play with it.   Posted: 11/05/2019 15:17:16

I really like the fall colors, you have done a great job accentuating them. I too would like to see this as a horizontal image. I think this would look great printed on metallic paper.   Posted: 11/09/2019 15:40:18
