About the Image(s)

Here is an image I recently captured (Sept 28th) on a photo walk in NYC. About an hour before sunset, I was in Battery Park when I saw clouds forming over the Harbor. I hoped on the Staten Island Ferry to get a closer view of Liberty Statue. As I approached the monument, the beams appeared. The lighting and atmosphere conditions, however were less than ideal. Shooting into the sun through a good deal of haze, I attached a Polarizer filter and took a series of 3x shots on the rolling boat to work of the best exposure or blend as an HDR, which I did for this image. Ms. Liberty, however was not standing on her mark in the pool of light. I had to perform a little PS voodoo to scoot her into position.

Details: Nikon D850, 28-300mm lens at 48mm., 1/2000 - 1/500 - 1/125, f/8.0, ISO 250. Edited in Lightroom for lens correction, cropping and straightening, Aurora HDR for blending and toning, Photoshop refine toning and content aware move Liberty, then refine and blend edges of the moved object.

Fantastic job of putting Miss Liberty in the spotlight where she belongs! It looks totally natural, and the sun rays are very beautiful.   Posted: 10/14/2019 16:58:55
