About the Image(s)

Hope you all are doing well. This month's entry gets back to my series on "Living Yard Art" Taken on July 10,2020, "Locust" is a bug which makes a lot of noise and brings back many memories as a child when we would catch them to play with. I sure do like my phone camera! Opened image with Snapseed; Looks> pop. Tools> crop, healing brush, frame. Now I don't know how to change the size to the regulated 768 (long side).

Ruth, this just brings smiles and memories! We did the same thing as children - poor creature! I don't recall why, but we called them 'jar flies'. Who knows, but to this day when I hear them I'm reminded of fun times. I love the closeup composition and the googly-eyes. Reminds me of a Star Wars machine. Your edits are great. As for sizing, others may have better suggestions, but I often cannot size perfectly, due to the original ratio of my photo-- so I take the selection of size as close as possible and go with it.   Posted: 08/06/2020 18:01:19

HI Ruth,
I love how you managed to get in so close. Yes....we have them here in Australia as well!
Looking at the body of your locust, it is possible that you are just a tad too close to his eyes. If you look at it's back it is quite sharp just beyond the eyes.
I'm not trying to be "picky" but I have done this so many times myself and I understand how frustrating and disappointing it can be. It is just a matter of learning exactly how far back you need to be to get the eyes (or what ever the most important part of your subject is) sharp.   Posted: 08/06/2020 23:37:35
