About the Image(s)

My photo is experimental, playing with a large jar of water suspended over a piece of coloured paper, vegetable oil and a drop of blue food colouring. This “blooming” happened after a little while when the solid spot of colour began to sink and break up. The label stamped on the bottom of the jar is showing through. Sharpness is lacking but it’s work in progress.
I did basic edits in Lightroom, small crop, white balance adjustment, clarity, vibrance and a bit of sharpening.

Very interesting image. Experimenting and trying new ideas is fun. I stared at this for a few minutes and I like it. If the writing on the bottom wasn't there for me to focus, I don't think the sharpness would matter. It's a fun image with potential. I could see a series of these hanging on a wall with different colors.   Posted: 10/09/2019 05:28:20

Yes, it turns out the label is the focus and that's not what I wanted. Agree that there is potential for this type of image so I will work at it and put up another at a later date. The design will take care of itself if I take proper care with the setup.   Posted: 10/12/2019 15:14:17

How fun! I've enjoyed this type of experimenting, too. The designs are mesmerizing. I had to search for the label you mention. It wasn't too visible to me. I think you can easily do a bit of cloning to remove it. I don't see any problems with the sharpness. I like the focus you chose. It's very artistic and makes a nice abstract.   Posted: 10/09/2019 13:45:32

Thanks Belinda - did you try it with a phone camera or DSLR? Maybe I need a tripod and remote for the phone.   Posted: 10/12/2019 15:22:25

I haven't tried it with the phone. I used my camera propped up on books. A remote would work, and maybe try setting the phone camera's timer.   Posted: 10/13/2019 21:14:58

I love the colors and the intersecting arcs. I'd love to see it without the center design.   Posted: 10/11/2019 19:09:46

I've been wanting to try this; now I'll move it up on my to do list. This makes a nice abstract.   Posted: 10/12/2019 11:34:10
