About the Image(s)

The poppies grabbed my attention in this garden. It’s private and fenced so it was a killer not being able to get closer.

I really liked them, but alone at the top of the hill was ‘blah’. I wasn't sure it was worth bothering to get creative but liked the results. Darkening the background highlighted the poppies, and the area of light on the grass reminded me of a gathering spot in evenings for elves and fairies-- use your imagination! I concentrated on that area and the light, cloned some of the rock and flowers to add to the scene.

I can imagine fairies and elves here. I like your edit a lot - it really puts the focus on those bright poppies.   Posted: 08/05/2019 11:08:19

Some clever editing here. I'm with Laurie on being able to image fairies here. It was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the title of the image. That could be moonlight in the middle.   Posted: 08/07/2019 02:55:57

It has been suggested that the middle of light needs more flowers. What do you think? In creating it I was thinking about fairy rings (mushrooms that are seen) and space in the light for 'dancing fairies'. I hesitate to add more, but maybe?   Posted: 08/07/2019 14:58:52

I have a typo in my first response. I meant imagine, not image. I think the space is good. There is some mystery there - is this a place where fairies come?   Posted: 08/07/2019 15:20:45

I understood, Margaret :-) I was thinking of nature's phenomenon when mushrooms form rings in lawns ("fairy rings"), so I took off with that idea. If I get a shot of fairies actually dancing in the spotlight, I'll certainly share it!   Posted: 08/08/2019 09:44:47

I kind of like fewer things to focus on, especially when the scene is as lush and colorful as yours. Wish I could be sitting there right now, leaning on the tree truck with an empty mind.   Posted: 08/07/2019 14:33:55

Thanks Janet! I preferred a closeup, too, but from a different angle. I considered a severe crop, but it didn't do alot for me. Nothing led the eye, and too much resolution was lost. I might need to plant some of my own next spring!   Posted: 08/07/2019 14:52:13

Your edits are very nice, I like it. The cloning of the rocks was a great idea. The light spot does make for an imaginary stage with the flowers and rocks leading to it.   Posted: 08/08/2019 18:28:37

Thanks, Carl- This all seems very tame after MirrorLab!   Posted: 08/14/2019 17:59:50

You did a great editing job on this. I can almost see the fairies peeping out from behind the tree.   Posted: 08/14/2019 15:56:07

Definitely your mastery of lighting created this final image and the added cloning of flowers and rocks totally supports your vision. I've seen rings of toadstools in wooded areas in the Midwest that look as natural as this turned out.   Posted: 08/21/2019 14:53:58
