About the Image(s)

Things have been quite busy this past month, so I took a relook at a photo I took about five years ago with my first drone, a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+. The scene is off the coast off Rancho Palos Verdes in CA, one of my favorite flying sites. In the distance you can see Santa Catalina Island “ the subject of the Four Preps hit, 26 Miles Across the Sea. Of course, you youngsters may be too young to remember this song from the early 60s. You can also see a distinctive just off the shore called Oleganators Rock or Toveemur Rock.

I liked this photo primarily because of the early evening lighting the colors it provided.

The RAW image was shot from an altitude of about 94 ft. The 3mm lens on the Phantom 2 is equivalent to a 35 mm lens. The other parameters were ISO 100, 1/380 sec, and F/2.8. I did only a modest amount of editing with Lightroom Classic.

Thanks, Lou. I just realized that I forgot to title the image. I am not good at that. :-)   Posted: 04/05/2021 12:53:45

I like the shot, and am sorry I don't have access to the Pacific Coast.
However, the foreground is busy and takes away from the interest. Play with cropping and see what you think.   Posted: 04/05/2021 18:48:54

Bob, I submitted this image to my camera club for review. The reviewer suggested try turning it into a panorama, either emphasizing the sky or the foreground. I have not done that yet, but I will try that.   Posted: 04/17/2021 10:44:26
