About the Image(s)

Taken on an early winter morning in Foster City, CA area. There is a walkway on the side of the bridge to go to the other side. This is what I saw when I came to the other side, a perfect reflection of the bridge. I had to rush to take the photo before the person on the other side disappeared.

Great shot Debasish! Hard sometimes to know if the shot is upright or upside down. Thank goodness for the guy on the other end. Next time control the wind so you don't have the little ripples in the water, LOL. I just love the symmetry in shots like this, good capture.   Posted: 03/02/2023 11:45:57

It does not get much better than that. Lines, perspective, exposure. I wonder of one thing: This crop is square. In other-words, It is probably cropped. If so, perhaps can you share the full version ?   Posted: 03/05/2023 18:55:13

Hi Debasish - Great grab! I have been looking at it for what seems like ages now and it is doing my head in so I think I have to go and see it for myself to really appreciate what you were looking at. I'm still not sure where the waterline is.
To me the image is a kaleidoscope or an abstract with lots of different shapes, textures and contrasts. It's certainly an attention grabber. In regard to the crop, do you think it would be worth cropping down that top inch but still retain the square?   Posted: 03/10/2023 01:14:02

Good morning, Debasish.

The resulting image is very cool, indeed. I also hope you go back to rework the subject in all different lighting conditions ... the subject has a lot of potential for further gains.

The only factor that spoils the overall illusion is the fact you are not "centered": this is one of those compositions that needs to be "centered" or symmetrically perfect, and it is not, due to you rushing to take the image with the person (ironically), centered.

In this sense, I hope you have another image of this subject, that is centered, and if not, go back and re-work the subject.   Posted: 03/16/2023 06:03:28

Hi, Debasish. I like this a lot. I am a fan of patterns and abstracts and this ticks both those boxes for me. You even managed to capture the reflections of the ripples on the concrete.

The sun appears to be a quite a low angle so the brightness under the bridge and the very open shadows seem appropriate. The image to me feels very slightly tilted (low on the right) but the perspective seems well controlled. I agree with Lance about being a bit more centered and purposeful with your crop to fine tune the presentation, but this is overall very well done.   Posted: 03/28/2023 07:53:13
