FIRE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE by Joe Pellicone

February 2021 - FIRE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE

About the Image(s)

For Christmas I bought myself a Infrared Camera. ( yes I opened the present early)
I have come to learn it’s the only way to really get what you want when you buy it yourself!

Anyway this is a IR Photo from a Converted Panasonic Lumix ZS100 pocket camera
The conversion is Full Spectrum and this was created with a IR 850 filter

Shot mid day around 2pm. I noticed the clouds from my house and drove 20 minutes to this location then a bit of a walk to get the shot.

In my opinion the clouds make the shot and that's why I go when I see them.

As an extra bonus the moon appeared. ( Full Disclosure - I didn’t notice it till I looked at the photos in the computer)

125th second
F/5.0
ISO-400
91mm focal length

For those interested in the camera purchase or details
The Camera is on sale for $429.99 and the Filter Set is 159.96 for a total of $589.95

(Google Search "Lumix ZS100" and IR filters for best deals)

What can I say more about beautiful. And the fact that I miss Long Island makes me more jealous.

Very well done.   Posted: 02/04/2021 10:10:09

Joe, what a wonderful perspective! And yes...mother nature offers wonderful opportunities to capture beauty and for sure your attention to this detail allowed you to give us this beautiful scene!

The IR conversion of course is another catalyst in this making this frame so engaging...well done, Joe!   Posted: 02/08/2021 06:52:56

Joe, very nice image. The IR really brought out the clouds and also the structure of the greenery surrounding the lighthouse. The shape and IR effect on the greenery introduces the suggestion of motion in the image. The walkway and rail provide an entrance into the image. Nothing about the image is static. It feels and looks like a storm is brewing.   Posted: 02/19/2021 19:43:09
