River Mosel by Dirk-Olaf Leimann, PPSA

September 2020 - River Mosel

About the Image(s)

This image was taken in a small town Bernkastel Kues, near the river Mosel, known as a place, where wine is produced.

The lantern was in front of a house and with this position, I one side of the house had sun, the other shadow.

A terrific composition that reveals the differences in texture; a direct influence from strongly illuminated wall and a complete alternative (smoother) texture in Shadow...I really like this, Dirk!

Also, this is another fine example of learning to "see" these otherwise common-place artifacts that surround our space, but in most cases, go unnoticed. A well conceived and executed composition, Dirk. (Another example that may spark conversation on the latest Bulletin Board discussion).   Posted: 09/08/2020 15:12:07

Dirk

Your composition is well seen and conceived and there is a beautiful play of light, shadow and texture. It is striking with its simplicity.

Did you try other crops? If so, did you feel it changed the balance of the image?

What a beautiful image! So clean and simple yet interesting and complex at the same time. The slight difference in light intensity and the accompanying textural difference in the walls is great next to the textures on the lamp and all the details of its design. The glass textures and the bulb inside. Love it, beautifully done. There are some areas that appear black on the lamp post. Is it really black? I would prefer it if I could see some little detail there. But that's a nit pik   Posted: 09/10/2020 10:14:58

This is a stunning shot of a divided-yet-not-divided composition.
It reminds me of this painting by Gustave Caillebotte.   Posted: 09/13/2020 15:32:05

Dirk, I liked what you saw and how you composed. I would have included little more of the lower part of the lamp post   Posted: 09/20/2020 13:08:04
