About the Image(s)

This image shows the culture island of the island Borkum.

Technique: I used an effect filter to duplicate the front of the building.

Dirk

This image is a beautiful play of lines, shape, texture, light and shadow. I like the two bicycles that add interest points as well as the reflections captured in the windows.

My suggestion is to look closer at where the sky and building meet camera left. I find the greyish areas distracting. Is this what is termed banding or is this caused by blending/merging two images and your blending technique.

I can see where the door bottom of camera left is the same as the door on camera right second level and that the two bicycles are the same. Thus it appears you blended the images. You may consider making this less obvious by changing the the position/sizing/orientation of one of the bicycles.

Can you describe your technique for creating this image?   Posted: 08/01/2020 16:24:00

Hi Dirk
A high contrast image
I understand you used a multi-image filter to get it on camera   Posted: 08/03/2020 17:54:34

Jose

Thanks for explaining what Dirk did.

An interesting idea, Dirk, but its not "pricking me". I love the extreme Black and White Contrasts and the subject is perfect for this....but I am not a fan of the cloning technique, so it puts me off.   Posted: 08/07/2020 07:06:43

Original image? Technique?
I really like the form and lines in this image. To me, this is one of your best, though for me, it needs a few tweeks.

For improvement, you might wish to make the semi-opac intersections totally solid, with no fading out. Those areas really attracted my eye and seemed to contradict the stark contrast in the rest of the image.   Posted: 08/10/2020 21:04:48

Excellent point, Georgianne.

Another way of seeing this type of work is through the thought-provoking technique used to highlight the lines and surely the dark and light shadows. Agree, the "fading" areas needed to be absent from the composition to allow the full impact to present itself.

For an alternative compositional idea, could this scene still have been realized without Cloning? Thus eliminating the faded areas...."Points to Ponder".   Posted: 08/19/2020 08:09:43
