Comsumnes Wildlife Refuge by Gregory Stais

November 2020 - Comsumnes Wildlife Refuge

About the Image(s)

I captured this scene during a Photo Club Excursion at the Comsumnes Wildlife Refuge in Galt, California on February 23, 2019. It was about 8:30 in the morning, and the early morning lighting was incredible. What intrigued me about this scene was how the clouds and trees in the background were reflected on the lake which gave this image its calming effect.

It was shot with my Nikon D5 and a Nikkor 24-70 MM F2.8G Zoom at 28mm, F/7.1, 1/500 sec, and ISO 200. The image was further enhanced in post-processing using Luminar 4's AI Image Enhancement to accentuate the colors, sky and reflections on the lake.

I hope you like this photo as much as I do. It is one of my favorites

I can see why you love this photo so dearly. Those cloud reflections along with all the other of the trees are amazing. Perfect balance along the gorgeous horizon finishes the shot off.   Posted: 11/07/2020 09:47:19

The focus of this image are the reflections and despite the ripples in the clouds the images is not too busy, but very interesting and inviting to look at. It's a great shot.   Posted: 11/10/2020 01:13:57

Great shot , agree with all the comments from Andrew, Kathleen, Laurie & Ruth. I only can add one thing is looks a bit over saturated and too much clarity slider used in my honest Opinion.
Over all a great balanced image .   Posted: 11/10/2020 21:05:36

Prasad, thank you for your objective feedback. I agree that the saturation could be toned down a little, but I do tend to like colors that stand out. That's just my personal preference.   Posted: 11/11/2020 15:42:52
