November 2020 - "Looking into the Mist"

About the Image(s)

"Looking into the Mist" was taken this summer on an early foggy morning at F9, 1/400 sec, and ISO 1250. It was fun to come upon this Great Blue Heron because they are not all that common to see here.

The soft colors, the portrait that conveys the stoicism of the blue heron, the setting are all wonderful. There is a gentle "at peace" with life message that, in this high stress time, is very welcome. I love this image.
I can't decide if cropping about 15-20% off the left side is really an improvement, but it does enhance the heron, which is a good thing, I think.   Posted: 11/06/2020 20:14:51

Great Blue Herons are one of my favorite birds to watch. Your photo shows off its beautiful details. I feel like I am viewing this from the same ground level as the bird into the mist. That makes the photo more inviting and special . The ripples in the water is an added bonus to the photo.   Posted: 11/07/2020 10:00:26

A lovely image Laurie. I like the fact that the heron is in it's natural environment, the background, due to it's different colours nicely blends in and does not take much away from the heron. A tiny amount of cropping on the left-hand side may be help. A great image to have in one's repertoire.   Posted: 11/10/2020 01:10:27
