About the Image(s)

Main Street Station and Trainshed, is a historic railroad station and office building in Richmond, Virginia. It was built in 1901, and is served by Amtrak. I. It is colloquially known by locals as The Clock Tower because there is one on the outside top of the building. It is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. The recent renovation kept the girder, wood and glass structure and modernized it enough to keep it functional. This is the top floor where passengers wait for their train.

Taken with an Olympus OM1 Mark II with an 80-300 f2.8 (p35mm equivalent) lens. Blown out outside was burned back in, shadows and highlights adjusted. To me, the figure adds interest and perspective.

Andrew, this is a very compelling photo! Great detail, and I like how you were able to burn in the "blown out" detail.

I agree that the figure adds perspective. Also, I like how the reflections of the ceiling structure on the floor adds depth and interesting detail to an already beautiful image.   Posted: 08/01/2020 16:46:11

I agree with Gregory . Look at all those interesting lines and the man walking completes the scene. When I first looked at this I just said "wow" out loud! This has that wow factor. I am not sure what you mean by blown out info . Did you use the burn tool in Photoshop to do to bring it out ?   Posted: 08/01/2020 18:57:34

Very interesting - the lines pull you right out the doors in the back. The gentleman gives it a nice reference to scale, and the lovely blue of the floor really brings it to life.   Posted: 08/02/2020 15:00:20
