26th Dec 2019 Annular Solar Eclipse by Prasad Indulkar

January 2020 - 26th Dec 2019 Annular Solar Eclipse

About the Image(s)

Today i shall share with you my most recent composite image of 26th Dec 2019 Annular Solar Eclipse which was partially visible in state where I reside , but was in totality in Southern India.

Using Photopills app i could plan my shoot , So I planned my visit to the place from where i wanted to shoot it . I travelled by train and bus to the place two nights of travel to and fro . And I had carried 3 camera setup , 3 tripods and solar filters , intervelometre etc.

I travelled alone to this unknown place and then for one whole day I scouted for the best place to shoot it from , I wanted to do timelapse video as well so i needed a good foreground for which i looked around the village for several hours. finally i found one which was close to what i wanted.

So i set up my cameras , The image i am submitting is a composite of 10 images out of the 700 + images i clicked which i needed for my TL.

I was using my Sony RX10M4 at 600mm and Sony A7RIII + Metabones V adapter + Canon 100-400mm IS II lens @400mm

I used RX10M4 for the foreground image which i clicked at the begining of the eclipse . EXIF ISO 100 , f9 , Shutter speed 1/2000

All the 9 Sun and moon eclipsed images are from Sony A7RIII Exif typically ISO 100, f8 , Shutter 1/250 , Only for the centre Totality the EXIF is ISO64 , f8 , Shutter 1/40.

I stacked all the images using Adobe Photoshop .

I wanted to show the progression of the eclipse from the first contact till last contact.

I used Thousand Oaks Solar filter Aperture 70mm , I am also attaching my setup photo if that is of any interest to the group .

Prasad, this is a wonderful, fun image. The creativity is great. The inclusion of the building and foreground really adds to this, making the image both earth connected and other worldly. Maybe a slight darkening of the sky to make the eclipse pop a bit more is a thought, but don't mess too much with this success.   Posted: 01/09/2020 10:15:20

This is an amazing photograph Prasad. I love the composition and even from a colour perspective the orange sky matches the orange "suns". It is a hugely technical and yet a very creative image. I am also in awe of your commitment to photography. 2 night trips and with lots of photographic gear in your luggage is no mean feat. Brilliant!

This is magnificent. Your expertise is amazing to me, and I am in awe of this shot. The orange and blue are so complementary, and it's a great building that you chose for the foreground. The only small suggestion might be to delete the power lines coming from the building on the right. They are a distraction in a really incredible image. I, too, now follow you on Instagram!   Posted: 01/12/2020 18:02:25
