About the Image(s)
Shot with Canon r5; 100mm macro; 3.2 secs at f/16. Photographed indoors; added textured background along with frames. I also did some dodging and burning of the petals to further showcase highlights and shadows.

Great finished image. Love the subtle background and the colour which all compliments the Tulip. The frame colouring also goes well and finishes off the image.
Do you extract your flower and then place onto the texture or the other way round? Something I like doing but never feel 100% happy with the result!!

Thanks! I generally place the texture over the image, then mask the texture off the image. I change the opacity of the texture to my liking and play with blend modes. I think I also added a color adjustment layer on top and again played with blend mode and probably more masking. I like similar tones, I know some enjoy more drama, but I tend to gravitate toward tone on tone.   Posted: 04/07/2021 14:05:53
Cheryl, tremendous post processing of an already beautiful shot. I really love what choices you made. I love the gentleness of it. Small point for me is that the flower itself is for me the subject and the greenery supporting the pedals is so sharp and bright it keeps taking my eye to those two areas. Toning those down to not overshadow the pedals, and possibly adding a ting more on the right side of the picture, would make this a perfect shot in my view.   Posted: 04/15/2021 12:03:29
