About the Image(s)

This image was taken at a photo meet up and our challenge was to create portraits in natural light. The sun was coming in from behind the model at about 2 o'clock. A reflector was placed opposite the sun. Photographed with Canon 5d mark iv, f/10, iSO 640 at 1/80. It was an extremely windy day and under normal circumstances, I would have taken more care to get the stray hair off the shoulder of her dress, but given COVID none of us wanted to get into others personal space. I did some cloning to close gaps in the trees, added some sharpening to her eyes and did a curves adjustment to darken the background a bit.

Lovely portrait again. Great eye contact and really sharp as well. Good work closing the gaps in the trees in the background as it certainly helps a lot.
Only slight change I would have made is not to have cut her hair off at the base? Not too sure if you have cropped in or whether you took the image like it but if cropped then perhaps show a little more on the base?   Posted: 11/08/2020 11:27:20

Cheryl, a beautiful portrait, and you drew out a lovely relaxed smile. I like the sparkles of the background. Maybe keep her face as is and darken around her a bit, bringing in our eye to her face, the subject to me.   Posted: 11/09/2020 22:16:57

Lovely portrait, Cheryl. I think the cloning you did in the trees works well. Your subject looks very relaxed, which is a big part of portrait photography. I agree with Angela...if you could include all of her hair I think that would look better, but overall a very nice portrait!   Posted: 11/10/2020 10:15:48

Nice portrait! The eyes got me. So mission accomplished on a really good portrait. :) The cloning works ok. PS . . . I didn't notice the hair till I read the other comments! While yeah, the hair shouldnt be cxropped, I think it speaks to the quality of the shot that it was easy to not notice!   Posted: 11/10/2020 14:34:56

Smile and the face - both are lovely. Very crisp image and a nicely shot portrait. Her left shoulder tilted a bit more towards the camera could have also been interesting, I felt.   Posted: 11/15/2020 02:46:37
