What a great shot especially with the bird having a fish in his beak. I know how flighty these birds can be and hardly ever get chance to take a photo as they are off as soon as they see you.
The whole image is tack sharp in the areas in needs to be. I like the reflection you have managed to get as well. Background is a bit busy but cannot be helped in this type image and it does show the environment the bird is in. Well done!!   Posted: 11/01/2020 10:49:53

Noel, this is a great wildlife shot! I love the reflection and the fact that you caught it with the fish in his mouth! Great shot!   Posted: 11/01/2020 12:51:10

Noël, nice catch by you and by the Heron. These shots are hard to get, and you have nice timing here. Have you considered a horizontal flip?   Posted: 11/06/2020 06:14:01

Do you refer to a portrait format?   Posted: 11/10/2020 04:50:48

Nice pic! The nice thing you did here was get a good background. I have a lake I go to for the Herons and ALWAYS find their gray easy to blend in with backgrounds. The reflection is great too!

It is a tough shot to take one with a fish in its beak - good one. In such situations especially where the background has grass and soil it can mar the appearance of the fish in its entirety. Here the image is very nice, but the fish is not that evident I felt. Was the reflection below cropped a bit? If it was more, how would it look?   Posted: 11/15/2020 02:52:14

It was not cropped in this picture - a portret format maybe for december   Posted: 11/15/2020 03:09:42

Very nice image. As stated by others, it is very sharp. I agree with Brent, it's often difficult to get a heron to stand out from it's background. Good job.   Posted: 11/15/2020 05:46:45
