About the Image(s)

I was playing with a new ( to me) program….Luminar 4! This program does some amazing things and I am just starting to learn it!
This was shot with my Leica V-Lux 3 camera.
F 5.2
The Luminar 4 program allows you to replace boring backgrounds very easily.
I played with color temperature, some burning and dodging, and sharpening!
I look forward to learning more about this program.

Well done for trying out a new programme. I have heard of Luminar 4 but never looked at it. Might do now!!
Lovely shot of the fox and he seems nice and sharp and you have managed to dampen down the highlights that he had on his upper body in the original image.
I am sorry to say that I prefer the background in the original as I find that the sky is competing with the fox for attention!! It seems too bright and my eye goes straight there and away from the fox. The programme has done very well in coping with his fur though. Perhaps try and darken the highlights in the sky a tad?   Posted: 10/01/2020 09:44:51

Hi Janet,
I love the posture and the way the fox is looking off into the distance with the sense of purpose. What does it see? I am wondering, and that is good indeed. You handled the bright parts very well. I like the original better as the sky replacement becomes the focal point for me as replaced, but the subject is the fox. I would also blur out the bottom grass, as it becomes a focal point to which my eyes go, rather than a support for the fox. You framed it well right out of camera. Nice.   Posted: 10/04/2020 05:29:26

This is great. I have enjoyed playing with luminar myself. Its a surprisingly effective and efficient program. I tend to agree with Angela about the sky. BUT, I played a lot with Luminars AI sky stuff myself . . . its really amazing . . . and efficient.

The fox is beautiful. It REALLY is. :)   Posted: 10/04/2020 18:30:29

Beautiful composition. I like the light hitting the fox. I've heard great things about Luminar but never used it. I wonder if just extending the green grass behind the fox, instead of the sky would add additional attention to the fox. (Not sure if Luminar can help with this!)   Posted: 10/10/2020 05:58:43

Be aware with Luminair 4, the program is amazing, still you need to pay attention to the light direction, sun position in the sky in relation to the lighting on the fox does not match. In this case the sky is indeed demanding too much attention. Personally I would place the fox a bit to the left, giving it more room in its viewing direction.   Posted: 10/11/2020 00:23:19
