March 2020 - I'm not looking

About the Image(s)

Taken on a street photography workshop. We were all lent Panasonic Lumix cameras for the day as the guy running the workshop is an ambassador for the company. Was quite impressed with camera but have gone back to my Canon!!
I like the way the chap is trying to look so nonchalant whilst waiting for his friend!! Felt it looked better in mono.

Funny Angela. At first I thought that the picture was the guy, till I read the title. Excellent title, and now I get it. Nicely seen. I find the vertical being off distracting, and I would straighten the vertical, and add contrast, and deepen the blacks, and bring out the whites, as it appears in the mid-tone grey. There is a little white line on the right and I would clone that out, but it might just go away upon straightening the vertical if you were to do that. And I would crop up from the bottom, as that little lip is a detraction, but leaving and making the horizontal edge is a very compelling leading line supporting the picture. His expression is definitely clear that he "is not looking." Tells a nice and respectful story.   Posted: 03/01/2020 15:23:38

Great result from your workshop, but to be expected as you were using a Lumix!!
Very meaningful image for those of us n the UK who are loosing our local 'holes in the wall' options at an astonishing rate. Well done.   Posted: 03/04/2020 04:08:00

I think you captured an interesting slice in time, Angela, and to me, that's the purpose of street photography. A few seconds later this scene will be gone forever. The only change I'd make is to brighten the whites a bit. Great shot!   Posted: 03/05/2020 18:54:01

Lucky you! You got a chance to work with Panasonic Lumix :) it indeed is a wonderful camera. I have tried my hands on it as well, great lite one. like you I went back to my canon:-)

This image has something very interesting about it and is candid. Simple things on street can make some great streetscapes. Lovely one.   Posted: 03/12/2020 21:53:03

Very nice composition. I agree the black and white suits the subjects well.   Posted: 03/13/2020 08:56:09
