August 2019 - Kids in the Creek

About the Image(s)

This image was made in mid-April of this year at the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. This is a rare sighting since the staff at the Arboretum are pretty vigilant, especially with children, about folks entering restricted areas, and the creek is definitely on that list. When I saw this, I was determined to get a few shots in before the staff found them. I cropped and straightened the image and upped the contrast a bit. Nikon D500, Tamron 18-270 lens @ 78mm, f/8, 1/200, ISO-100, handheld, no flash, Exposure Program-Manual.

Wow, forbidden fruit -- juicy :-) I think the focus and exposure are spot on.

For my taste there is too much going on and I can't get a sense of a cohesive story. The children in the water, the people on the left and those are the right compete for my attention. The big branch in the top foreground is distracting to me. I don't know how to fix this post. I didn't like anything I tried.   Posted: 08/04/2019 17:58:02

Nice image but I do agree with a lot of Ed's comments. l What I did for the branch is select small pieces at a time and do an edit content aware fill which I just did roughly at 11 p.m. I think if you really work it you would get a lot better results.   Posted: 08/04/2019 22:16:44

I like this image, and I don't find it too busy at all. To me, it shows bustle and life. I do agree that the branch in the top foreground is distracting. But overall, I think it's a nice image.   Posted: 08/11/2019 12:33:39

Great image! I like the look and feel. Agree the branch is distracting, and I like the edits Beverly made to the image. That is what I'd like to learn!!! :-)   Posted: 08/11/2019 22:59:54
