Pepper No. 4 by Peter Newman

April 2021 - Pepper No. 4

About the Image(s)

Nikon D800, Nikkor 105 micro f2.8. .5sec @ f16, ISO 1600. Lighting 2 Litra torch, I attached a diffuser to one of them and the other with a barn door attachment to help direct the light. Plus overhead incandescent room lighting..

I was in a mood to play with monochrome lighting. This image was inspired by Weston. The original is a soft focus mini green pepper placed on a black mirror and converted to mono in PS, by playing with the sliders. Added an orange photo filter .25 fill for a bit of warmth. As usual all comments are appreciated, especially constructive negative ones.

Pardon me if I am wrong, but I think Weston made peppers very sexual...and these curves are a similar style. I like the soft focus, and the shading. What is a black mirror?   Posted: 04/12/2021 16:44:03

This is very interesting. I couldn't tell what it was until I read it. The curves are sexual to me, too. I guess that was intended. The stem is not recognizable to me. The photo itself is grainy. I like the lighting and the monochrome!   Posted: 04/13/2021 20:01:48
