About the Image(s)

I continue to experiment with zoom motion. For "Summer_Burst" I chose a bright pink flower in my garden and spent many minutes zooming a Tamron 16-300mm lens in and out. The camera, a Canon 80D, was tripod mounted. Settings were selected (by experimentation) to yield a shutter speed sufficiently slow to permit a good zoom. In the end I used 0.4 seconds at f 11 and ISO 200. Post processing was in LightRoom CC where I added a slight crop, adjusted highlights, and added a slight vignette.

Hi Judith,
It's been a while since I played around with zoom blurs, man, they're fun! So far, I've mostly done them at night on neon structures using a 6 sec shutter speed (about 2 sec on the subject and then zooming the rest of the time). Your image is the burst of happy colors that we all need during 2020. Viewing your image, I'm reminded that we are surrounded by natural beauty that should be appreciated more than they are. The heavenly scent of flowers draws me close and for a moment my world is made sweeter.   Posted: 09/12/2020 01:24:28

What a fun image. I love the kaledioscope of colors. Speaking of kaledioscopes, you could tile this into what it would look like through a lens by changing the direction of each tile and it would look like a kaledioscope!   Posted: 09/13/2020 10:45:29

Hi Judith, You continue to master zoom and blur. This image has a pleasing amount of sharpness to make the subject clearly identifiable as well as zoom-blur to give the image a kinetic quality. Good exposure and color. Karl   Posted: 09/16/2020 08:14:57

Beautiful explosion of colour Judith! The zoom has meant all the lines are heading to the lovely little green pieces at the centre. Very nice. There's a bluey-white piece on the left which you could probably do without, but lovely impact overall.   Posted: 09/18/2020 23:44:54

This is absolutely gorgeous! I will try something like it one day. Great technique, and great choices made in post-processing.   Posted: 09/20/2020 13:30:17
