Father Son motorcycle race by Abdo Allam

November 2020 - Father Son motorcycle race

About the Image(s)

I chose a desert motorcycle race photo, for father and his son during last Friday race. This IS my first usage for a sky replacement tool in photoshop and it is really awesome and easy.

NIKKOE 300 F/4 @ F/5.6

A good story here, especially with the son's wheel passing over dad's. A slower shutter speed and panning would have given a feel of motion in the wheels to add to the story.

Wow, one of my favorites of yours. Super crisp for f5.6! I especially like how bright and vivid the reds are. What technique did you use to bring the reds out?

Some small suggestions-- the subjects seem a bit centered. I might leave a bit more in front of the subjects so they have somewhere to race into.

Most photographers would flip this, so the subjects go from left to right, like we read. Is there a reason you didn't?

Have you considered a light vignette to keep us in the frame?

If you flip it then the text/numbers will need to be corrected too.   Posted: 11/08/2020 13:39:27

Great capture Abdo. Love the father and son dynamic here.
I think the sky replacement looks pretty natural, though when looking closer at the bottom left (mound) , things looks slightly amiss.

Still, a great image regardless. I hope you were able to give a copy of the photo to these guys.   Posted: 11/15/2020 12:10:00

I like the image and the composition. My only minor concern is in the area where the dirt and the sky merge. The edge of the dirt is so sharp it looks unnatural. I would try to blur that edge.   Posted: 11/15/2020 19:50:30
