Wow, what an incredible close-up! Can you provide your SOC pic so we can see what changes you made? Do you think that is pollen or water on the fly?

The lower left stem is distracting, I'm not sure you can remove it easily and it does give a bit of dimension and frame the fly.

Is there a bit more room for the fly to move into?   Posted: 05/02/2020 21:10:59

What an amazing close up for a shot taken without any pre-setup, and no stacking either I guess.

There are the distractions of the stem on the left which would need attention, and the petal just below the wing that I can live with. There is also a black something across the base of the eye that I don't believe belongs to the fly, but if this is just one of a series that you are building up to then the future definitely looks bright.   Posted: 05/03/2020 14:39:02

thanks Brenda and Terry for your usual support , it is too hard to control insect move in nature especially in such handheld shot , and yes Terry it is one shot without stacking , I take all your opinion in mind and try a quick edit according it , if you see it is good enough I can do it with more attention .   Posted: 05/06/2020 18:27:34

Abdo, I think eliminating the petal and the stem helped your fly a lot! Thanks for trying Terry's ideas. Can you post your SOC shot for comparison? Thanks so much!

Definitely has a better feel now, well done. As you say trying to photograph nature is tough, I have spent many fruitless hours chasing bugs so resorted to models, they usually do as they are told, lol.   Posted: 05/10/2020 10:41:58

Very impressive detail in this macro! I think your 2nd edit is very good. I like the composition and removal of distracting elements.

My only very minor complaint would be to brighten up the eye a little as much as you can. I see from your original, the whole image was darker but it seems the back and wing have the most light and eye is still in shadow. Any kind of dodging or lightening there might be effective.

Otherwise, with your edits, I think a really great macro image.   Posted: 05/12/2020 16:21:36
