This was taken near the city of Ahmedabad, India. This city is declared as Heritage city by the UN, is famous for its unique Hindu and Islamic architecture, the city is about 500 plus years old. This old door is of a small storage room at the famous stepwell of Adalaj, stepwell was built in the year 1499 (+/-). This place is just 5 miles from my house in India 😊

Sunil, what a big transformation from your SOC picture! Wonderful textures! Can you discuss what you did in Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance your textures and colors?   Posted: 05/02/2020 20:35:49

You have selected the important part of the image and created a super image all about texture, and whereas the common approach is to make it B&W I think the colours work well here.

Two comments, I don't think you need as much of the left wall, which also takes the door off-centre, and do you have one with the entire step showing, the bottom right looks a bit too tight in the frame (or clone a bit).

Thanks Terry,
Agree, left wall makes image unbalanced, I liked the Jim's version. that looks good.   Posted: 05/26/2020 22:15:37

I really like your interpretation of this scene. From a tourist snapshot to an artistic display of this ancient wall and shutter.

The textures are so rich and you've done well to accentuate them. I agree with Terry that the bottom feels a little cramped. Would like to see a little more space under the window but understand if it was not possible to shoot it like that.

I don't mind the left side so much and like that texture, though might consider either putting the window right in center, or doing a crop like Terry's where it is pushed further to left or right. Here it seems too close to center but not...   Posted: 05/12/2020 16:33:04

I love the photo. Your conversion is great. However, my feeling is that the bottom sill is needed so in my conversion I "created" a new sill for the door and I also cropped some off the right side.   Posted: 05/14/2020 17:45:23

Sunil, I have to say that at the very beginning, I like the original more, except for the tour bus.

But when I kept coming back more, I like your final more. I like it, it is nice done. I do agree that the bottom part is a little tight, but feel OK so far for what you have done.

I do like the texture and the light, in particular the red ink is nicely done.   Posted: 05/17/2020 20:57:58

Thanks Richard,

Agree about bottom part, is tight. Jim has suggested a better crop and also worked on bottom part, I liked the Jim's version most.   Posted: 05/26/2020 22:22:37
