About the Image(s)

For this photo, it is taken in a work shop in one old and historical village in Qatar, Egypt, where I live. We photographed at 10,00 pm in very darkness, with only some moon light and lot of small cloud only. We use torch light to take the focus so long exposure is must to take this photo. I planned to shoot through this old walk to frame Maazana, which is the tower for Masjed.

Abdo, its delightful to have a member from halfway around the world--and such a beautiful part of the world! We look forward to amazing scenes from Egypt!

If I ignore your description, as if I saw this pic in competition, I would say it was beautifully framed, well focused, good depth of field and the foreground wall had a lot of texture. The blue sky/gold rock and building contrasting colors work well together.

This is a perfect example of a good foreground, middle ground (fallen rock) and background (our tower, the subject).

I'm fascinated that this was shot at night when it was very dark? You light-painted it with a torch (flashlight), but wouldn't that give us a dark sky and very little light on the tower? Did you replace the sky with blue sky? Could you please post the original dark photo below? This will be a great discussion photo!

Great composition. A nicely contrasted and well post-processed image. It is surprised to know that it is taken in the moonlight.

Would you mind to share some parameters, i.e. the shutter speed and iso, etc.?

Also feel like interested to know how you handle the noise reduction. Thanks and cheers.   Posted: 08/02/2018 15:46:14

Wow...
You are very good at post-processing. A very good output from the original image.

The details and colors that you pulled from the original is impressive indeed. I would have thought it was daylight till I read your description.

I like the way the clouds are pulling from the long exposure, making the tower seem almost like it is broadcasting a radio signal.   Posted: 08/04/2018 10:13:03

Abdo, I love the pic. Do you think it would be different if you shot during the day? Maybe you would lose the long clouds? I think we are all fascinated that your night shot looks like a day shot.   Posted: 08/04/2018 11:43:42

Dear Brenda
may be you not taste weather here in Qatar which during the day heat reach 55C and sun is very shining , may be in my photo you feel that cause light focused in wall , can you check another photos which I attached for same session you will feel the real light during the session .   Posted: 08/04/2018 14:52:45

Abdo,
I love the texture and composition of your shot. If you venture into Ps you might think about cleaning up the slight vertical protrusion halfway the right side of the window. The clone tool in light room is not very controllable and hard to use. I spend a lot of time in post processing, and use Lr for about 80% of my work. I use Ps for cloning and when I need layers.

Great use of Lr.   Posted: 08/11/2018 08:39:18

thanks Mr Dave for your comment
actually since it is very old village and it is a heritage building I did not make any edit for the building and I think this protrusion gives the effect of historical building so I did not made any change for it

I was surprised when you said it was taken at night. I know about the heat since I live in North Las Vegas, Nevada. I love the image. I like the layering from close to far. I also love the contrast of the blue against the browns. I learned a lot from this image.   Posted: 08/11/2018 12:07:02

thanks Mr Alan , it is my pleasure to hear like that from you , really appreciated   Posted: 08/11/2018 19:16:52

Abdo, great image. I prefer a tighter crop to give prevalence to the framed subject, and still showing the intricated pattern of the old wall   Posted: 08/13/2018 20:27:05

thanks Mr Isaac for your comment
actually I like to give all environment details for the photo : black sand in land , old and dray planet in lower left corner and keep the perspective to show time changes in wall from down which appear only the stone it self to up with old texture
thanks and appreciated   Posted: 08/14/2018 08:01:01
