About the Image(s)

This month's image is taken inside our living room, looking out through the glass and across the lake. I love that at night our kitchen is reflected in the windows, the reflection of the dining room light looks like a spaceship, and we have a multi-layered view to look at.
We are still unpacking after shifting in, so I can't find my tripod - hence I'm shooting everything hand held! You will see from the original that it's very dark - I almost threw it away. However, I decided to see if I could save it.

In Photoshop, I used the Nik HDR plugin to see what I could recover. The result is Edit 1. I then layered a series of three LUTs and masked to apply to specific areas.

Once I find my tripod, I will shoot it again with a longer exposure - but in the meantime, I'm interested in your comments and ideas for this one

Mary, First I want to tell you I love the colors. The tail of light looks like a little spaceship buzzing around your room. For sure this is a storytelling image. There is lots of shadows in the dark furniture. Very unusual image. Keep trying with your tripod next time.   Posted: 05/10/2022 16:19:45

Mary, I love this experiment of yours and especially the wonderful colors. The image looks sort of hazy to me, so I tried a levels adj. in PS to dehaze. Then I thought why not try making it a bit more graphic, so I added a couple of lines…

I really enjoy images that use reflections and really like the abstract nature of your photo. The viewer needs to pause for a moment and try to absorb what we are seeing in your image. Nice warm colors and those repeating vertical lines really work here. Also, it looks like you get to regularly enjoy a beautiful view!   Posted: 05/14/2022 07:30:02

This is an image that really makes you think. I feel like I'm looking at a room that is up in the clouds. I love the colors as well. I wonder if taking out the light fixture would add or detract from this abstract image? I'm torn about that.

Really nice observation of the reflections and capturing this hand held.   Posted: 05/15/2022 13:31:01

To me, the original 2 is better than the finished image. It is clearer; there seems to be a blue haze to the finished image. Witta's added lines make the image more graphic. I never would have thouight of that, but I like it. You handheld this? Awesome!   Posted: 05/18/2022 10:50:00
