Hi Marge: This white flower with the yellow central portion has a soft pleasant mood I find relaxing if you will. The flower appears to have been photographed in a hazy sun situation as the shadows are not jet black but show some detail. The small pinkish petals in the center add a point of interest. Nice background.   Posted: 03/07/2023 21:23:34
Thank you Murphy for your comments.   Posted: 03/14/2023 20:53:42
A nice sharp capture of an East Indian lotus I would crop this up from the bottom to just below the left petal shadows and try to sharpen the center more The pink petal blocking the yellow center bothers me you might be able to lower it with liquify and clone in part of the center to have a complete circle I also cropped a bit from the top and took out a white flower part on the right of the petal tip I pulled down
I sharpened the center with Viveza 2   Posted: 03/08/2023 16:17:15

Thank you Judy for taking the time to show me your ideas.   Posted: 03/14/2023 20:52:00
Marge, The lotus is one of my favorite flowers for photography and fortunately there is a public gardens nearby that has them in several ponds. I agree with Judy that the petal obscuring part of the center detracts from the image but I thought that cloning it out might be difficult so I tried in PS just to see what would happen. I was mostly concerned with getting the stamens to look reasonable well and I think it worked but did not try to modify anything else. Ray   Posted: 03/08/2023 19:10:04
I think Raymond's cloning out of the petal works very well   Posted: 03/09/2023 15:39:24
Thank you Ray. You did a great job making these changes.   Posted: 03/14/2023 20:55:26
Interesting discussion thus far. I am enjoying the composition, crop and sense of depth you have captured in this image. I feel that the image is a bit washed out though, perhaps being a bit over exposed and losing much of the native detail in the petals. Thant and heightening the detail in the center may help some (as noted earlier). I have included a version of this image which illustrates my thoughts.   Posted: 03/13/2023 15:28:33
Thank you Charles. You are right about my photo being washed out a bit for sure. You did an wonderful job bringing out the detail and making it POP. Thanks.

I like the light and the soft colors of this image.
I also prefer (personal opinion)the suggestion of the crop from Judy.
Due to the forms of the leaves a square format can be interesting.   Posted: 03/20/2023 04:37:37
