About the Image(s)

I captured this image in January 2016 while visiting my childhood hometown, Hillsborough, NH. My objective was to capture the sense of cold and the texture of the bridge, snow and ice.

Nikon D7100, Nikkor 18-200mm zoom lens at 32mm, ISO 800, f/8, 1/125.

Post processing of the image was done in Lightroom consisting of a slight crop, selected adjustments to highlights and shadows and sharpening of the bridge and flowing water.

Walter, You certainly achieved both goals! I get a real sense of the cold temperature. The left river bank and the stream itself draw you into the image, definitely a scene I'd like to explore.   Posted: 02/13/2021 08:40:14

Yes Walter I can feel the cold. Wondering with all the texture you have captured how this scene would look in black & white? I think that would really promote the textures. A pleasing image which makes me want to visit this location   Posted: 02/15/2021 14:49:18

Here is a B&W version of the shot. I zereoed out all color saturation in Lightroom except for the blue channel which I set to -11 because I liked how it made the water look. I also did +10 on the contrast. What do you think?   Posted: 02/15/2021 15:45:35

Extremely nice image Walter. Running water always grabs my interest because it shapes everything it touches. The different textures, colors, and shades are right on. Well done.   Posted: 02/18/2021 12:10:16
