About the Image(s)

I captured this photo on a recent trip to Alaska. The image was captured with a Nikon D7100 handheld with an exposure of ISO-500, f/11, 1/1000 and a Tamron 150-600 lens at 400mm.

The image was processed in Lightroom, Temperature 5100, tint +6; exposure +.48; Highlights -2; shadows +79; whites +12; blacks -5; clarity +10; dehae +24; saturation +12; vignetting -19.

I chose the crop size because I thought it emphasized the flight of the eagle.

would try light/shadow a bit under the wind, so see some details. if possible.   Posted: 08/17/2018 08:47:14

I wish I had increased my exposure to have allowed me to get additional details under the wing. I tried to bring out additional detail in the shadow under the wing, but was unable to get any more.   Posted: 08/19/2018 11:42:54

Good shot Walter. Nice and sharp, especially being hand-held! The only thing I'd try to correct is the washed-out detail in highlights. I've found that the shadows under the wings can be hard to get. They are usually very dark. I've started to concentrate on shooting birds in flight and it can be quite a task. I'm going to play around with exposures and see what I come up with.   Posted: 08/21/2018 10:27:23
