The low camera angle makes this image interesting. The lighting is good and fits the title. By using f/22 the depth of field is good. The blur at the end is only positive. My only little pick is to clone out the black dots on the right mushroom.   Posted: 10/03/2020 23:34:58

Thanks Arne
Look at those dots and could not make up my mind to either leave them in or not.   Posted: 10/04/2020 01:07:43

I always like nature in color; but your bnw conversion is also amazing David. Narrow aperture at 90 mm grants you depth-of-field which looks great and sharp enough. Black background calls our attention to mushrooms which have interesting shape and hope not poisonous! I agree with Arne that the black dots could be removed in Photoshop. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 10/04/2020 01:11:03

Hi David,
This is great! I really liked the image. It looks like a real lamp as you titled. I also like the lighting, which create different tone values. This is a win of conversion.
One question and one for improvement from my eye.
The question - where did you focused in shooting? In my eye, sharpness on mushroom cap is a bit loose. Maybe this is due to my monitor. I was wondering where did you focus in shooting....
One for improvement - I would crop slightly bottom to balance the space on the top.
But overall this is very much pleasing image to keep watching. Thank you for sharing.   Posted: 10/06/2020 19:06:00

Hi Haru
Thanks for the comments, I will have at look at cropping the image from the bottom to see what happens
I was focused on the fungi second in from the right.   Posted: 10/06/2020 19:38:59

The composition is reasonable, with rich details and tones.   Posted: 10/18/2020 20:07:49

As someone who's always on the hunt for fungi when I'm walking in the woods, this is a terrific image. I would have removed the dirt on the cap. I'm curious about the light - is it natural or did you use an artificial light source?   Posted: 10/19/2020 12:48:20
