This photo of the Sturgeon Bay Canal Lighthouse “Stormy Weather” was taken in 2020 when we had a storm with lots of wind and cold temperatures. The photo was taken with my Canon 90D and Tamron 150-600 lens with an f8 aperture, 273mm, ISO 200, 1/100 sec exposure.

Our month is all about the color RED ! This is a striking image and Lighthouses are one of my favorite subjects. When I lived in Maryland I loved to visits all the Screw Pile Lighthouses, which were unique to the Chesapeake Bay. And one of our fave places in Florida is Sanibelk Captiva that just went through a horrible Hurricane. The Sanibel Light house survived which is amazing given the devastation elsewhere. It is their symbol now of revival.
Love the composition, the color and the ICE!! Beautiful and print worthy!   Posted: 03/14/2023 10:56:17

Thanks for your comment Sherry. This lighthouse is a favorite of mine and many other photographers and a recent repainting gave it the bright red color.   Posted: 03/14/2023 12:47:21
I love the composition and bright colors also. It just says "Winter!"   Posted: 03/14/2023 13:16:36
Welcome to our group Gary. What a great image. In your face colours and composition. The ice tells us the story of cold and the emptiness of the water tells us something about the lonely location. A very strong image indeed Gary, congratulations.   Posted: 03/22/2023 03:17:18
Gary - welcome. The sis a great shot of the frozen water on and around the lighthouse and then the accent of the red - very dramatic. Great detail and well exposed. Again, welcome to the group.   Posted: 03/22/2023 15:06:29
