Annecy, France by Sherry Icardi

April 2021 - Annecy, France

About the Image(s)

Lake Annecy in the small town of Annecy at the base of the Alps. It is 35 KM south of Geneva, Switzerland. I was there for a Photo trek of the Alps including France, Switzerland and Italy. Perhaps the most beautiful trip I have ever taken for Landscape photography. I would return if and when we curtail this pandemic. I can't imagine waking up every morning to views like this! I went in a day early to get over jet lag and went out in the early morning to take a walk around and get my bearings.

This image was interesting to me for all the lines and details in the surrounding landscape.

This was taken with my D750 and 24-120mm lens at 120mm.
Setting were:

1/200 sec
F 11.0
ISO 100

Sherry, this is really nice, blue sky with white clouds, slightly misty background and pristine water. Compositionwise I am fine with the vertical split but maybe the ship is too central for me. I would crop the photo so that the ship is in the left (or even in the right?) third. But this is just an opinion.   Posted: 04/15/2021 10:32:40

It is a terrific photo, Sherry. The light on the sail of the boat is incredible as is that in the mountains in the background. The composition with the nestled houses and sloping mountains is compelling. As Janos suggested, the boat might look better a bit off to one side. I might also smooth or crop the water in the foreground. Nicely done!   Posted: 04/16/2021 07:19:57

Sherry, its is a beautiful shot. Matt and Janos had the same thoughts I did when viewing the image. I like your second version with the cropping. Your lighting is perfect.Great job.
