I enjoyed walking through this image, Ian. Sometimes, having a large element on the side of the frame can be offsetting, but I imagined myself walking up the grass on the right, under the tree toward the bridge and watching a terrific sunrise.

The long exposure does a nice job in smoothing the water and bringing out the reflections. The opera house is positioned perfectly in the background for added interest. Overall, it is a unique take on a classic location.

I do not have much to suggest. Perhaps the lights on the right side could be toned down as they are the so much brighter than the bridge.   Posted: 02/11/2021 09:01:22

Very nice composition with a lot of diagonal lines driving your eyes. Also great post processing, the final is much nicer than the original. Some people don't like "photoshopping", but I would have deleted the person with the red pants and maybe also the white spot on the grass.   Posted: 02/14/2021 00:11:44

Ian, love the unique way you are lead into this image. If it wasn't for the bright lights to the left I dont think the image would be as strong without them.
It is a beautiful shot where I want to wander into the picture to left then onto the bridge.   Posted: 02/14/2021 11:13:35

I have never been to Australia but this is a shot that I would expect to be in a travel magazine. The romance walking along and seeing the sky with the lighting of the opera house - very nice. Only question, is your horizon line flat? It feels that it is tilting a bit down on the left of the image or is it the 20mm lens?   Posted: 02/15/2021 17:42:43

Thanks for your comments Dave. It's always painful dragging myself out of bed for these early morning shoots with my friend, but when we are capturing the images, all the pain seems to disappear, and a good breakfast afterward is a great reward. That horizon line is not an aberration with the 20mm lens, in LR I used the grid lines to get it as level as I could (or so I thought).   Posted: 02/22/2021 02:36:31

What a beautiful city and this is a great shot of the waterline. Everything leads me into the bridge .....and eventually the Opera House. This light reflections, the grass, and diagonals lead me in! Beautiful.   Posted: 02/17/2021 14:03:28

Thanks Sherry, yes Sydney is a lovely city, as are many of others around the world. Sadly I don't get into it as much as I would like, hopefully I will make more time to do so in the next 12 or 18 months.   Posted: 02/22/2021 02:39:08

Beautiful colors. The composition and the long exposure are very nice. The perspective of the bridge is slightly off due to the super-wide angle lens. I would suggest to correct the perspective. Beautiful image.   Posted: 02/23/2021 22:44:03
