Watching the ocean by Peter Cheung

September 2020 - Watching the ocean

About the Image(s)

Deion: The picture was taken last month in Rialto Beach, Olympic National Park. It was a hot day but the beach was cool, only 60+ degree. The two persons standing on the top of the rock to view the pacific ocean and sunset are quite interesting so I captured that moment. The camera settings are Nikon D850, Nikon 18-35mm, f/14, 35mm, 1/1600 sec, iso-100

The minimalism impact here is very strong and effective. The two people provide a nice sense of scale.

Might also work with the sun being off-center by cropping in from the left.   Posted: 09/15/2020 08:43:17

Simply superb Peter, as always. I love everything about it. You're still breaking the rules by shooting into the sun, good work, keep breaking rules.   Posted: 09/20/2020 03:26:08

A strong image, Peter. It is not always easy to shut into the sun and still have details on the other parts of the image. Often you need a gradual filter or HDR. Perhaps you had some clouds or haze to help you. To me the sun too central but this is only my taste.   Posted: 09/21/2020 09:36:30
