Sunrise at Skagit Valley by Peter Cheung

March 2019 - Sunrise at Skagit Valley

About the Image(s)

Deion: The picture was taken during sunrise in Skagit Valley, Washington last week. It was a chilly morning. Temperature was only in mid-20 F. Swans and snow geese started taking off after sunrise, and the misty scene below the mountain on the far side painted a breathtaking picture. The camera settings are Nikon D810, Nikon 70-200mm, ISO-200, f/5.6, 1/2500 sec. In post-processing, I increased the color temperature and lightened up the shadow a little bit.

Nice image Peter - were you in Skagit for the Tulip festival? I love the image and the color palate - it feels like a crisp early morning shot.   Posted: 03/09/2019 18:27:32

Great Capture, I like that you waited for the Geese to be in a line like that, great Sunrise, nice colours....   Posted: 03/10/2019 03:51:47

Yes Peter, what a great sunrise image. From the construction of this image, and your processing, I'm guessing that you were at this location with a mission in mind. Great preparation and planning.   Posted: 03/12/2019 03:23:17

Beautiful image and love the misty background and the mountains. It is a beautiful golden color! The birds in flight just add that extra special touch. You never disappoint!   Posted: 03/15/2019 16:11:12

Just perfect. Love the light through the feathers of the geese wings and the layering in the image. Nice one Peter.   Posted: 03/16/2019 04:57:05

Lovely picturesque image Peter. I love your composition and time of shooting. The misty fog and specially the flying queue of birds completed the image.   Posted: 03/16/2019 18:27:07
