April 2021 - Meadow Walk

About the Image(s)

Landscape and wildlife. This photo is unique as it shows how balance or weight within an image is not dependent on size. The bear balances the mountains. This was taken using more wildlife shooting parameters as there was a couple grizzlies on the other side of the road, and everyone was photographing them and all of a sudden a couple of us looked behind us and lo and behold there was a black bear (colored brown) crossing the meadow right in front of a great landscape scene. f/5.6 at 1/1000 ISO 140 Fortunately, I focused aways from the camera and most of the scene is in acceptable focus.

Randy, what you describe here happens to all of us. More interesting things are happening behind, so always we have to walk and look in all directions before creating an image. The black bear in the foreground gives us dimension, and shows us the immensity and beauty of these landscapes. The prairie in the foreground, the Pine trees in the midground and the impressive snowed mountains in the background all contribute to make this landscape superb. Sharp and very vivid colors.   Posted: 04/02/2021 09:04:40

Randy, What a beautiful image! The greenery of the foreground and midground accentuate the hue of the bear. The trees point the viewer's eyes up to the majestic mountain. Nicely done!   Posted: 04/03/2021 09:56:03

Randy, I love the effect that this enormous animal appears so small in the overall scene. Life is relative! A unique and lovely image.

Randy, I agree with the looking around when shooting. It has gotten me some of my best shots. The juxtaposition of the bear against the mountain range makes for an interesting composition. The eye is immediately drawn to the bear then flows up to the mountain top. Nicely done.   Posted: 04/15/2021 12:27:41

Randy - the perfect of wildlife in the environment type shot! As has been said, the bear so small in the image really helps to show off the amazing location, with interest through the full depth of the image. Lovely and very interesting that 5.6 at that range got everything sharp!   Posted: 04/18/2021 10:58:43
