The photograph was taken in Los Angeles, California. I tried to get the best possible lighting to accentuate the flower. This flower just suggested that it should be photographed.

Nat, nice image of the Calla Lily and with side illumination. The flower itself is a little soft throughout which may have been intentionally to obtain a more artistic image. You used f/4 which does not give you much depth of field. It seems that your focus point was in the back of the flower which is more in focus, being the front softer. The bright area on the lower right border is overexposed and there is no detail to be rescued. The bright lower edge of the frame is a little distracting so I cropped it and tilted the frame somehow to have a more oblique placement of the flower. The side light is well placed and you post processing of the background was well handled as well.   Posted: 01/22/2018 13:29:23

Nat, I agree with Isaac on his comments and like the changes he made to the image. The area on the lower edge of the flowers is blown out so there is no detail to recover. The dark background makes the subject stand out.Your composition is good on this one. Bruce   Posted: 01/23/2018 18:25:16

Original seems to be more sharper of the two images. Light is good. I liked the version posted by Isaac.   Posted: 01/26/2018 04:44:12
