About the Image(s)

This was my February image but I've learned a lot more about post processing since then and have reworked it.

The settings were F-8, ISO 260, 70 mm, 1/15 second on the Sony A7RIII. Basic editing was done in Lightroom before it was sent over to Photoshop. The sky was replaced, a whole lot of debris and a huge flag pole were removed, and luminosity masks were used to fine tune some of the dodging and burning. It's a much moodier image now and I look forward to what everyone thinks. Did I go too far?

I feel this is a perfectly composed image. I like how the trees and lighthouse counterbalance the open waters on the left. I appreciate how you replaced the clouds, although the clouds in the original might have offered the perspective of how the lighthouse appears in stormy weather. Overall, however, the image seems a little dark to me. Maybe open up the exposure enough to capture more of the details of the shoreline.   Posted: 11/03/2020 11:05:55

The newer image is better. It's less crowded than the original one. Also overall color is more eye catching. I like the replaced sky, but I can not see how well it's done since the uploaded image is not detail enough. It's hard to merge the edges of trees and mountains when replace the background. I heard the latest PS has sky replacement features. But I saw a try from a friend, the edge is still not good. Great Try!   Posted: 11/19/2020 17:37:47

I like the remake very much. It brings out the lighthouse and the ocean shore. The flagpole in the original was a distraction and you did a very nice job of eliminating it. My only other observation is that with the change of sky, I believe, the shoreline and lighthouse need to be lightened ever so slightly. My eye is telling me there should be a bit more sunlight.
Very, very nice work.   Posted: 11/27/2020 10:36:09

Much livlier image now. I agree that a bit more light on one side of the lighthouse would be a good idea as there is so much lightness in the sky now. I would do the left planes of the building, and probably hit the light colored bushes in front of those walls. Very nice redo. I submitted a photo but somehow it didn't get put up I guess.   Posted: 11/27/2020 15:13:14
