Starry Cabins by Theresa Rice

September 2020 - Starry Cabins

About the Image(s)

This is another stacked image, taken at Norwegian Point (a county park) a couple of weeks ago. It's is challenging because there are very bright security lights all around, lots of power lines, and a porta potty between these cabins.12 15-second exposures taken on the Sony A7RIII with a Rokinon 14 mm lens at F-2.8 and ISO 5000, stacked in Sequator, processed in Lightroom, Topaz AI Sharpener, and Photoshop.

You keep knocking these night shots out of the park. Great job of presenting new and fresh perspectives. I like how the light at the cabins really gives this one some added color and pop.   Posted: 09/06/2020 17:47:12

Thanks, Mike. That's the security light on the church across the street shining through the buildings. There's another one on the other side of the building behind the camera, so it can be a bit tricky finding a composition without a lot of glare.   Posted: 09/06/2020 17:53:45

Great picture. Your night shots have been amazing! I love the lighting and the softness of the colors.

As an aside, I love Edward Hooper's paintings and this reminds me of them.   Posted: 09/07/2020 09:35:15

I knew this reminded me of an artist whom I admire. What a compliment -- to be compared to Edward Hopper!!   Posted: 09/08/2020 18:06:53

This is a good capture of milky way. It's hard to have a good focus on close subjects and milky way at the same time. Move the front subjects a bit further helps the focus.   Posted: 09/14/2020 14:20:45

This is a stacked image with a couple of images focused on the foreground and the rest on the sky so that they could be blended to have everything in focus.   Posted: 09/14/2020 15:16:03
