Sunrise at the Beach by Nancie Clark

December 2019 - Sunrise at the Beach

About the Image(s)

This is at Navarre Beach, FL. I stopped at sunrise to scout it out for the future. I was lazy and didn't use a tripod. It's only 30 minutes from home, so I'll go back and try again. I like the pier in the distance, but it 's a simple photo.

This is a serene, peaceful image. It fills me with tranquility just looking at it. The soft colors are a perfect compliment for the texture on the beach. I love the way you captured the pier jutting toward the sunrise. Nice job.   Posted: 12/08/2019 17:15:52

Thank you Mike! I'm going to get closer next time and give the pier more presence.   Posted: 12/21/2019 17:53:05

I love this peaceful presentation and the variation of color layers to show the depth. The image is not in a horizontal position, and some black dots in the sky. I don't know whether it helps to darker the sky and bring up the light at the center.   Posted: 12/09/2019 17:53:07

I feel your soft color tune is better than my modification. Please ignore my previous thoughts.   Posted: 12/09/2019 17:57:11

Thanks John. I always do Lightroom horizon straightening function. Maybe the pier tricked it? I'll check it again.

I think the spot is a seagull, unless I missed a sensor spot. I always go through my photos at 200% in PS and get rid of sensor spots. I have to find a place here in FL to clean it again.

I'll touch it up. Thanks so much!   Posted: 12/21/2019 17:59:45

Very nice color palette. I'd correct the horizon as John mentions. Since this image is so serene (Mike) I might have some fun and apply a blur to the water to "relax" it.   Posted: 12/12/2019 05:43:11

Thank you, Gordon. I did the horizon straightening in Lightroom. I guess it didn't get it right. I'll check it again.

Ohhh, I could try that with the water. Good thought. I cleaned up the beach to make it look nicer. I'll play around with the blur and see what it looks like.

Thanks!   Posted: 12/21/2019 18:02:43

Really nice job, Nancie. This image almost makes me miss living in the panhandle.

I love the subtle differences in color and texture. The people near the pier lets the viewer know how large that pier and the scene are. All in all, beautifully done and I have no suggestions.   Posted: 12/26/2019 06:46:52

A different subject for you, Nancie, very minimalist.
I see the horizon problem too. but didn't notice it until reading. The people sure are tiny in scale. All the leading lines bring my eye to the walking figure (s). I might clone that couple together out to lighten their visual weight.
Very serene and peaceful.   Posted: 12/30/2019 20:52:34
