About the Image(s)
This is the famous lone willow tree on Lake Wanaka in the South Island of New Zealand. The tree was a popular Instagram shot and as such when we visited there last year, there were lots of tourists crowded along the water's edge trying taking selfies with different angles of the submerged tree. The first image was captured at sunset when lots of people were there. The featured image was captured on the subsequent day when there were thunder showers followed by a brief showing of the setting sun. Our tour group just finished dining at a downtown restaurant, when I noticed that stormy weather was all around us. There was a big bright rainbow when we walked down the street. Wondering what would be a nice setting for this lone willow to be captured, I ran the 1.5 mile towards this tree racing against the setting sun and rapidly changing light. When I got there, there was not a soul in sight and I quickly took a handheld grab shot right before the sun setting behind the mountains. This turned out to be one of my favorite images that I captured during that trip. Again this goes to show that luck is when opportunity meets preparedness.
I was very lucky that day.

Wow.... simply WOW.....
I love it. The central trees are so crisp and everything else gives a dreamy feeling. Nice use of a relatively low f/stop.
I am so jealous! I really can wait to be able to travel again....
