The original was definitely drab and a bit underexposed. The way you have developed the neon sky furnishes a useful focal point. The view of the near foreground makes me think you took the exposure from waist high looking down toward the sand and gravel, which does not grab one's attention. Lowering the camera nearer the ground so that we are looking out and along the white crest and toward the sky highlights rather than down on the sand is my suggestion.   Posted: 08/14/2020 09:40:27

Suggestion of low perspective is excellent! Will try to remember to shoot ALL ways when working the scene.   Posted: 08/24/2020 13:57:37

Hi Judy,

The foam creates a nice leading line into the colorful sunset. You did a nice job of pulling texture and details out of the original file. I like how the little wave in the background echos the arch of the foam on the beach. My only suggestion would be to consider changing the color of the yellow foam in the foreground to a little whiter.

Yes I believe that would reduce its distraction. Thanks. It's yellow pollen blown off from the neighboring pollinating plants.   Posted: 08/24/2020 14:03:51

Agree with both Todd's and Lamar's suggestions and comments. The only thing that I could add would be to somehow move the sunset towards the center of the image. The leading line is very nice, but it leads to the edge of the image making the viewer wanting to see more of the sunset.   Posted: 08/19/2020 13:21:03

Interesting shot. You did a good job on bringing out the contrast and colors of the scene. I really like the composition of the wave line going to the left and then to the right and then following on out to the sunset area. A very nice effect. I also agree with Lamar's and Todd's suggestions.   Posted: 08/20/2020 17:04:41

Nice image. I agree with the above comments. Really nice improvement done from the original capture. I personally like horizontal views for this type of image as it would show more the glorious colors of the sun and its effects on the clouds as well as a better view of the beach. This is unfortunately not always possible due to the presence of people, buildings, etc.. that are interfering.   Posted: 08/21/2020 08:00:34

Thanks Pierre. I was going for the radial flow of the wash of water over the higher ridge of beach there, which didn't line up with the sun or sky color.   Posted: 08/27/2020 11:46:27

Hi Judy, I obviously have different comments from our group friends here. I just like the way Judy compose and post edit the image. I always shot in 3 bracket exposure (I guess Pierre did the same) and normally develop and post edit from -1 exposure. Very much like what Judy has done here. To me its awesome work Judy. No suggestion.   Posted: 08/26/2020 21:05:18

Thanks Frans for your comments. I do find the yellow pollen laced foam a bit distracting. Taking as many different perspectives at capture is always worth exploring.   Posted: 08/27/2020 11:49:13
