Love the action! I would have probably brought up the vibrance and added a catchlight to the near goose. But I like it.   Posted: 03/03/2023 17:31:13
Pierre,
Great action shot. I don't know if it all the flying water or the fast action but the heads of the birds appear a bit soft to me.   Posted: 03/07/2023 22:03:25

Great action and I love the movement in the water, and the water drops all around. Its a little difficult to make out the 2 heads clearly and I don't think its as sharp as it could be. Perhaps a higher shutter speed would help. I was taught to try to use a shutter speed about twice the focal length of the lens, so 1/1000 secs in this case.   Posted: 03/10/2023 14:21:25
I agree that the heads are a little bit out of focus. The bodies themself are sharp. I believe this is because the autofocus, targeting the heads, was misled by the drops of waters between the camera and the heads. (The camera will always focus on the closest object in the target zone!) I had the same issues with snowflakes in the past. I should have switched to manual focus! (not much time to think during this action shot! - I will keep this in mind in the future.   Posted: 03/14/2023 19:28:14
Overall this is a very dynamic photo. I love all the motion. That said the heads are a bit difficult to recognize and so become hard to focus on. I think you already mentioned how you would compensate for that as I can't really offer any help there. Beyond that I think the set up and framing of the subjects is perfect and overall it is a strong piece.   Posted: 03/17/2023 10:12:41
Like everyone else, I love the action of the geese and the explosion of water around them. Really nice image!   Posted: 03/17/2023 11:28:48
