About the Image(s)

Canon 5D Mark IV Tamron SP 15-30 wide angle tripod

This is Lake Josephine, where we have our Snow bird place in Sebring, FL. During the lockdown, I took my tripod down to the lake and shot this HDR (4 shots). I was especially worried about the tree. Normally, you would recommend that I cut the the tree and use it as part of the frame. What are your thoughts?

The patterns coming from the sun sure enhance a great pic, I may have lightened the foreground a little to bring the tree out a little, well done.   Posted: 05/01/2020 23:55:50

Brenda,
I think including the whole tree works well in this shot. Sunsets are a challenge with the great dynamic range but you got both the foreground and background exposed well.   Posted: 05/03/2020 21:40:15

I like the tree as it is. Good use of the HDR technique allowing you to keep nice details of the tree bark and at the same time, showing the bright sun. One of the technical issues with bracketing, is the possible motion artifacts caused by the wind on the tree branches (does not look like there was much wind when you took that picture).
Nicely done. Very peaceful.   Posted: 05/04/2020 14:14:23

I agree with keeping the tree in the frame as shown here. The sunrise with its star effect is great. But I also like the clouds and delicate branches on the right of the tree. On my monitor the foreground is light enough, although it is a bit dark on my cell phone.   Posted: 05/04/2020 15:33:00

Thanks, Mervyn! What do you think of my changes below?

I made the changes suggested--darkened the pond along the left edge, lightened the foreground (it seems much darker here than on my screen) and and moved the horizon line off center. Any additional thoughts on my changes?   Posted: 05/06/2020 13:36:23

Brenda, good work with your changes. Brightening the foreground really helps the image. The starburst sun makes the image and the tree branches and tree frame the sun perfectly, good job.   Posted: 05/06/2020 15:17:26

Thanks, Candy. Do you like the horizon line changed? I'm not sure about it.   Posted: 05/10/2020 16:16:07

Yes, I do like the horizon change. The sun is the important part, not all the top of the tree. It makes the image so much better.   Posted: 05/10/2020 18:02:59

I think the changes are a really nice addition. Especially now that the details are really clear. I also enjoy the tree in the photo. I wouldn't change anything else.   Posted: 05/10/2020 12:55:51
