Rural Trees by Dean Ginther

November 2019 - Rural Trees

About the Image(s)

While driving on a rural road in Northern Michigan, I saw these trees along the roadside and stopped to take some pictures. I was using my Pentax K-1 with tripod: 1/180; F8.0, 24mm, 400 ISO. It was converted to bw from the original color image.

Dean, this was the perfect image to convert to black and white. It seems to have good contrast. The image has good sharpness. In my opinion, I would have cropped off the trees on the left that appear broken and falling down. the reflection adds to the beauty of the image, and having the horizon line weighted to the top balances the image. Usually in an image like this one something that is different to draw the eye is needed-a twisted or curvy tree, for example.   Posted: 11/09/2019 13:11:24

Dean I agree that this was a perfect pic to convert into a b&w, it enhances and makes it stand out well. I agree that i would crop the sides a little. I like the reflections, good on you.   Posted: 11/10/2019 01:26:50

What a perfect image to convert to black and white. My eye is drawn to the beautiful texture in the poplar trees and their reflection, while the brush in the background does not compete in any way. I would crop out the tree on the left which is different from the rest and detracts from the main subject.   Posted: 11/18/2019 12:52:26

This is a great picture. I also agree that it works very well as a black and white photo. The composition is very nice. I do agree that it could be cropped a tiny bit.   Posted: 11/24/2019 21:37:26
