Agawa Canyon Provincial Park by Dean Ginther

October 2019 - Agawa Canyon Provincial Park

About the Image(s)

Sharon and I took a day-long train trip from Sault Ste. Marie Canada to the Agawa Canyon Provincial Park to see the fall color. Unfortunately, it was a rainy and overcast day, so there was no blue sky or contrasting clouds. This image was taken with a Sony RX100 Mark 7 set on the landscape mode - ISO 100, F2.8, 24mm.

A nice peaceful scene. I like the way the reflection leads my eye through the landscape. I used the Dehaze filter in Photoshop camera raw to add some contrast to the sky.   Posted: 10/06/2019 11:55:58

Nice warm colors, with strong guiding lines and mirror reflection. Your depth of field is pretty good considering a f stop at 2.8 (24 mm lens helps).
Very peaceful and powerful image. I like both your version and Mervyn's version. The latter one is a bit more dramatic.
Good eye! Great shot!   Posted: 10/06/2019 12:33:45

I don't quite know how you got the depth of field at f2.8 but good on you well done. Like the others the reflections are great, well done.   Posted: 10/06/2019 17:26:18

In landscape mode, the camera selects the settings. That's definitely not the aperture that I would typically select for a scene like this. It is interesting that everything appears to be in clear focus, even the relatively close plant in the foreground.   Posted: 10/06/2019 18:21:02

Agree with everything the others have said. To add, I really like the diagonal line through the pic and that it is not overprocessed (something we so often see in fall color photos).

Absolutely one of my favorites by you!   Posted: 10/08/2019 19:28:13

Beautiful fall image with a peaceful feel. It is nice that the image is not over processed or saturated. The leading diagonal lines of the trees and bank of the water take the viewer to the convergence point. The bush with a touch of red in the front right corner is a nice touch. The reflection is definitely another plus.   Posted: 10/12/2019 13:40:14

There are so many strong lines in your piece. I really appreciate the strong diagonal that you have in the composition. Also how it is centered and presented there is so much complexity and I really appreciate that.   Posted: 10/20/2019 19:45:18
